Playing With “Danger”
Having graduated from Endicott College in 2016 with a BFA in visual communications, I’m a photographer, videographer, and a wolf activist. With my passionate devotion towards helping wolves/wolfdogs and my keen eye for detail, I use my photographic skills when volunteering at wolf sanctuaries to capture photos of their animals either from a distance or lying right beside them. My main purposes are not only to spread awareness about the positive importance of wolves and why they should exist but also to show the elegant beauty of them through my work.
Playing With "Danger" is a visual story about the interactions I've experienced with wolves & wolfdogs over the years. A majority of people who talk to me about my work with wolves often ask me if it's dangerous or if I'm ever afraid that I may get hurt or eaten. Some even become filled with fear of the idea of ever coming close to these animals. When faced with these ideas / opinions of "fear" & "danger", I walk right past them and embrace these wonderful animals into my arms. The purpose of this exhibit is to share my experiences and hopefully change the opinions of others to view wolves from a more respectful & positive light.
When I visit a wolf sanctuary, I am aware of the risks and precautions that must be taken to ensure safety when interacting with these animals. But what’s more important to know is that the staff at the sanctuary don’t let volunteers just go into any animal’s enclosure space. They know who’s safe to socialize with and who is not. Respecting that, I know how to handle a situation on my own with the knowledge, experience and training I’ve received over the years.
